17.1 Support for Optimal Sub-Panel Design
Why Is an Optimal Sub-Panel Design So Important?
✓ Stability:
The assembly process – in particular – relies on a stable sub-panel design.
Rigid-flex and thin PCBs ≤ 1.0 mm require closer examination as far as this issue is concerned
✓ Efficient material utilization:
Individual circuits should be mounted in a way that saves as much space as possible; depending on the contour, they can also be nested.
This saves resources and, ultimately, money too
✓ No-go areas:
Optional for components that are located close to or extend beyond the outline edge. These must be communicated to the PCB manufacturer in order to be considered
✓ Tailored assembly process:
Transport edge with optional pickup holes and fiducials
Detailed information can be found under 5. Sub-Panel Design/Production Formats
